Almond cake, oranges, honey - Mantelikakku, appelsiinit, hunaja

This cake was made for our traditional Independence Day Dinner Party. It was served as a dessert after delicious meal cooked and served by our friends. It was eaten while we watch Presidential Independence Day Reception.

I´ve been making many different almond cake lately. So many that I get comments of them, like: again? Anyway this one was different as it was warmed runny honey poured on top of cake after baking it.

Olen viime aikoina tehnyt erilaisia mantelikakkuja.

Zest from one orange was grated. Few more peeled and cut to segments. Leftover fruit was pressed through sieve to saucepan. Orange zest and some runny honey was heated up along with orange juice and orange segments were added to saucepan.

Raastoin yhden appelsiinin kuoren. Kuorin muutaman appelsiinin, irrotin lohkot ja puristin jäljelle jääneestä hedelmälihasta mehun siivilän läpi kattilaan, jonne lisäsin appelsiinikuoriraasteen ja juoksevaa hunajaa.

Both cake and marinated oranges waited until next day.

  1. I think almond cake is lovely - it keeps so well too, if anything getting better and better. Love how you served it with oranges
